Statistical - common words used in data handling suitable for KS3.
What Q is a set of questions on a given topic?. What S is a diagram with points plotted to see if there is a connection between two sets of data?. What Q is Data that is numerical and can be counted or measured?. What Q is data categories that describe something, like preferred colours, food, hobbies etc?. What S is the collection / organisation / presentation / interpretation and analysis of data?. What P is data that you collect or measure yourself?. What S is data that you may use which has already been collected from another source?. What D is data that only takes individual values?. What C is numerical data that can have any number of values in a certain range?. What D is a collection of information?. What T is using marks in groups of five to get a total?. What F is the number of times a particular item appears in a set of data?. What B is a diagram that uses bars with gaps between to show frequencies for easy comparison?. What H is a bar graph with no gaps between bars to show a frequency distribution?. What F is a line graph which joins the mid points of the top of the bars on a histogram?. What P is a diagram using a divided circle where each section represents part of the total?. What G is dividing things into sets?. What F is a table that has a subject, tally and frequency column, used to collect data?. What P is a graph using pictures to represent a quantity?. What L is a graph that uses lines to join points which represents data and shows trends?.
