A comprehensive collection of past SATs papers for KS2 and KS3 that are free to download in PDF form. The current year's papers are helpfully password protected to prevent access by students however the password can be obtained by bona fide teachers by emailing the site owner. Although the site is called e-maths there are also sections for English and Science papers.

A simple drag and drop activity to help pupils understand the use of apostrophes in contractions. The activity is self marking but not really extensive enough for pupils to engage with alone for long. The activity would make an ideal starter or plenary for use on an interactive whiteboard.

A set of free resources, including lesson plans and a simple computer simulation, allowing students to explore how varying the amounts of pesticide, herbicide and fertilizer affect the crop yield. The simulation is easy to use and simple enough that students have the possibility to explore its strengths and weaknesses. There are also helpful video clips demonstrating its use in class.

A useful tool for teaching amplitude, frequency and wavelength on an interactive whiteboard. A simplified oscilloscope which allows you to change the amplitude, frequency and wavelength which are clearly labelled on the trace.

A simple drag and drop activity to introduce the power of adjectives. Students drag and drop an adjective chosen from a long list to change the tone of a passage. The activity sadly only has one passage and fairly limited adjectives but would make an ideal starter if used on an interactive whiteboard with the whole class.

A collection of video clips and resources of things you definitely wouldn't try at home which can be used to stimulate discussion or liven up dull topics. There is also a section of experiments to try at home and a section of 'module test' type multiple choice questions.

A java applet tool to show how shapes or combinations of shapes tesselate. There is a selection of shapes that can be dragged and rotated to test ideas about tessellation. There is a range of suggested activities of increasing difficulty. The activity is ideal for students to use alone or for demonstration on an interactive whiteboard.

Nice colourful cartoon animations explain in simple terms why materials have different properties and how they change on heating and cooling. Other animations cover separation techniques and dissolving. The animations can be run in full screen mode for use on an interactive whiteboard or for pupils to work on their own. There is a section of teachers notes and pupil resources including a self marking quiz providing instant feedback for pupils.

A selection of games and resources, including printable worksheets, allowing pupils to explore the the 'good' and 'bad' micro-organisms that inhabit our bodies - and the role that anti-biotics can play in fighting infection. Colourful graphics and simple menus make this ideal for KS2 but could be used as a recap for KS3 as well.

A fantastic online resource that enables students to create their own short animated films by choosing characters, adding dialogue and music. The resource has similar functionality to the commercial resource kar2ouche however it's free and simpler to learn meaning students can get results without being taught how to use the programme.

A nice simple animation ideal for introducing food chains at KS2 or to recap at KS3. Bold, colourful grpahics make it ideal for use on an interactive whiteboard.

A series of open ended tasks covering the complete range of KS3 QCA topics. They can be used in class by groups of students as an alternative form of assessment, or by individuals as homework tasks. There are level criteria associated with each task and so can be used as part of AFL and are suitable for peer marking.

A set of eight flash animations covering various aspects of sound and waves. There are excellent animations showing how a pulse of sound travels through solid and gas particles as well as the 'bell in a bell jar' demo. There are also useful animations demonstrating waveforms of different frequencies and amplitudes and the relationship between the two. The animations are ideal to use on an interactive whiteboard to support teacher explanations or traditional demonstrations.
